OUR SERVICES
Cable machine and auger service for Pleasant Hill drains, from a hand auger at a lavatory to a sectional machine in the main. Camera verified.
OVERVIEW
Pleasant Hill is six miles from our shop on Vandalia Road, which makes it the easiest call in our service area to reach quickly with the right machine already on the truck. Most of the city was built in the early 2000s, so the drain lines are sound PVC and augering here is about removing what went into them rather than fighting the pipe itself.
The usual finds are wipes bridged at a fitting, hair mats in a trap arm, and the occasional item a child sent down a toilet. All of those are cable work. What a cable will not fix is a grease coating, and if the camera shows one we will tell you plainly that jetting is the better spend.
All work is performed in compliance with the 2024 Uniform Plumbing Code as adopted by the State of Iowa.

WHEN A CABLE IS THE RIGHT TOOL
A cable machine handles a specific set of problems well. These are they.
Toys, brushes, and hygiene products. A cable retrieves or breaks the obstruction where high pressure water would only move it along.
They leave the bowl intact and stop at the first grade change. In early 2000s Pleasant Hill homes this is the most common main line blockage.
A closet auger reaches through the trapway without marking the porcelain, and it works where repeated plunging fails.
Tubs and showers build a mat that a drum machine pulls out whole rather than shoving downstream to reform.
That is a branch line problem, cleared with a small machine and without ever opening the main.
Flow has to come back before anything else can be judged. Cable first, camera second, recommendation third.
AUGER AND CABLE SERVICES
Every drain in the building, and the lateral that carries it to the street.
The private line from your building to the city main, which the property owner maintains here.
Trapway cleared without scratching the bowl, followed by a check on the closet flange and wax seal.
A cable clears light grease. Heavy glazing on the pipe wall gets an honest jetting recommendation instead.
Drum machines extract the hair mat rather than relocating it into the branch line for next time.
Standpipes and basement floor drains, both easy to forget until water reaches the floor.
Pleasant Hill shops, offices, and restaurants, where a scheduled visit beats an emergency during business hours.
WHY CLOG BUSTERS
Right machine for the line, then proof on camera that it worked.
Fixture, branch, or main. Each needs a different cable diameter, and getting it wrong either misses the blockage or risks the pipe.
Retrieval heads for objects, cutting heads for compacted material, grease heads where a cable is the only available access.
We pass the blockage several times instead of punching one hole and declaring the line clear.
A recorded pass shows whether the line is genuinely open, and whether anything else is going to bring us back.
Plumbing installation and repair in Pleasant Hill is permitted through the Building Department on Maple Drive. Routine cleaning is not, and we say which applies.
FAQ
Still stuck? Call the Des Moines shop at (515) 259-1991.
A flexible steel cable turned under power with a head on the end. A hand snake handles a sink trap, a drum machine handles branch lines, and a sectional machine drives heavy cable through a main line. Same principle, different scale.
A cable is for obstructions and roots. A jetter is for coatings, meaning grease, sludge, and scale. Cabling a coated line only bores a channel through it, and the line closes again within a few months.
No. Routine drain cleaning is maintenance. Plumbing installation and repair does require a permit, issued through the Pleasant Hill Building Department at 5160 Maple Drive, Suite A.
Because the pipe is not the problem. Sound PVC still passes whatever is sent down it, and wipes, hair, and small objects account for nearly every Pleasant Hill blockage we clear.
For a sink trap that is reasonable. For a main line, rental machines are usually underpowered, and a cable that wraps and lodges inside a lateral costs more to retrieve than the original call would have cost.
Not when the cable is sized to the line and handled properly. We camera the run afterward rather than assuming, so you can see the condition for yourself.
Not to auger. We work through an existing cleanout. Excavation only enters the conversation if the camera finds a break or collapse that cabling cannot address.
Pleasant Hill is our closest suburb at about six miles, and we run 24 hours, so same-day is normal and a fully stopped main is prioritized.
