OUR SERVICES
Drain cleaning for North Liberty homes and businesses. Cabling, hydro jetting, and camera verification, scheduled so you get a real arrival window.
OVERVIEW
North Liberty is the outlier in our service area. It sits in Johnson County, roughly 115 miles east of our Des Moines shop, and it runs entirely on its own utilities rather than the regional systems the metro cities share. The city treats its own drinking water at a reverse osmosis and nanofiltration plant that came online in 2018, drawing from the Jordan and Silurian aquifers, and it treats its own wastewater at a membrane bioreactor plant on Muddy Creek.
That 2018 water plant matters for drains. The city reported hardness falling to 5 to 6 grains per gallon after it opened, down from 10 to 12 before. Newer North Liberty lines therefore see less mineral scale than most Iowa cities, and with a median build year around 2004 the pipe itself is usually sound. What blocks it is grease, wipes, and hair, the same as everywhere else.
All work is performed in compliance with the 2024 Uniform Plumbing Code as adopted by the State of Iowa.

WARNING SIGNS
Softer water and newer pipe narrow the list of likely causes, which makes diagnosis faster.
A shared symptom points at a shared pipe. The restriction is past the individual traps, in the branch line or the main.
The lowest opening in the building is where a main line backup surfaces. That is the moment to call.
Grease clings at fittings even in smooth PVC. Once the clogs become predictable, the wall is coated and needs scouring.
Flushable wipes clear the bowl and then stop at the first grade change. They are the leading main line blockage in homes of this era.
Drywall mud, grout, and mortar rinsed down a drain during a build harden inside the pipe and do not move for a cable.
Usually a dried out trap in a rarely used bathroom or floor drain, and worth confirming rather than masking.
DRAIN CLEANING SERVICES
Residential and commercial, from a slow lavatory to the lateral under the yard.
Grease and food waste, the leading cause of a kitchen backup here as anywhere. We check whether the disposal itself is the real fault.
Hair and soap bind at the trap arm. Softer water since 2018 helps a little, but it does not stop the mat forming.
Obstruction cleared, then a check on the flange and wax seal, both of which often suffer during a backup.
Lint and detergent residue narrow a standpipe over time until the machine overflows during a cycle.
The private lateral from your building to the city collection system is yours to maintain. We cable or jet it and camera the run.
North Liberty restaurants, clinics, and apartment buildings on a scheduled jetting interval planned around our route.
WHY CLOG BUSTERS
A scheduled visit with a real window, then the same method we use everywhere.
North Liberty is a longer run for us than the metro, so we book it as a planned visit with a window you can hold us to rather than a vague same-day promise.
Which fixtures are affected places the blockage, so the first access point we open is the correct one.
Cable machines for solids and roots, hydro jetting for grease and hardened construction debris.
Every main gets a camera pass. Building sewer and water service work in North Liberty is permitted through the Planning, Building and Development Department.
Full volume through the line to confirm it carries, then the work area is left clean.
FAQ
Still stuck? Call the North Liberty shop at (319) 209-6817.
Yes. It is a longer run than our metro work, about 115 miles east of our Des Moines shop, so we book it as a scheduled visit with a firm window and send the truck fully equipped to finish in one trip.
Much less than it used to be. After the city reverse osmosis and nanofiltration plant came online in 2018, North Liberty reported hardness dropping to 5 to 6 grains per gallon from 10 to 12. That is the most recent figure the city has published.
Yes. North Liberty specifically lists building sewer and water service among the work requiring a permit, issued through the Planning, Building and Development Department. Routine drain cleaning does not require one.
The city does, at its own membrane bioreactor plant on Muddy Creek. Unlike the Des Moines suburbs, North Liberty is not part of a regional wastewater authority.
Newer pipe does not stop grease, wipes, or hair. In homes built during the 2000s we also pull construction debris that was rinsed down a drain while the house was being finished.
Roots and solid obstructions take a cable. Grease, sludge, and hardened construction debris take a jetter, because cabling only bores a channel through those.
Not in sound pipe, and we camera the line before jetting so we know what we are pressurizing. If we find a compromised lateral we stop and explain the options first.
Yes, and on a trip this length we plan for it. Every main line we clear gets a recorded camera pass as part of the visit.
