Two Fixtures Acting Up Together
A sink and a tub misbehaving on the same side of the house means the shared branch line is restricted, not the individual traps.

OUR SERVICES
Drain cleaning for Ankeny homes and businesses, from a single slow fixture to a blocked main line. Cabling, hydro jetting, and camera verification on every main.
OVERVIEW
Ankeny is the newest housing stock we work in, with a median build year around 2006. That changes what we find. Instead of scaled cast iron, Ankeny drains are usually PVC, and the blockages are almost always things that went down them: grease, wipes, hair, and construction debris left behind in newer builds. The pipe is rarely the villain here, which is good news for the repair bill.
What Ankeny does have is volume. The city has grown faster than any community we serve, and a lot of that growth is homes on their first or second owner where nobody has ever run a camera down the lateral. We clear the line, then show you what the pipe actually looks like.
All work is performed in compliance with the 2024 Uniform Plumbing Code as adopted by the State of Iowa.

WARNING SIGNS
Newer pipe fails differently than old pipe. These are the symptoms worth a call rather than another bottle of drain cleaner.
A sink and a tub misbehaving on the same side of the house means the shared branch line is restricted, not the individual traps.
PVC is smooth, but grease still cools and clings at every fitting. A kitchen line that slows every few months needs jetting, not another cabling.
Flushable wipes do not break down. In newer Ankeny homes they are the single most common main line blockage we pull out.
Drywall mud, grout, and mortar poured down a drain during a build or remodel harden inside the pipe. That is a jetting job.
Air venting back through a basement floor drain means the main is partly blocked, even if every fixture upstairs still drains.
Often a dry trap in a seldom-used basement bathroom. Sometimes a vent problem. Either way it is worth finding rather than masking.
DRAIN CLEANING SERVICES
Every drain in the building, plus the lateral that carries it all out to the street.
Grease and food waste are the top two causes of a kitchen backup in Ankeny. We clear the line and check that the disposal is not the actual problem.
Hair and soap scum knot up at the trap arm. Pulling the mat out beats pushing it into the branch line.
Wipes, dental floss, and toys. We clear the obstruction and confirm the flange and seal are still sound afterward.
Lint and detergent residue narrow a standpipe over time. It is an easy line to forget until it overflows.
The private lateral from your home to the city sewer is yours to maintain. We cable or jet it, then camera the full run.
Ankeny restaurants, clinics, and apartment buildings on a scheduled jetting interval so the line never gets to the backup stage.
WHY CLOG BUSTERS
Same method every time, so the result does not depend on which truck shows up.
We map which fixtures are affected to place the blockage before we open anything, which usually saves a trip through the wrong cleanout.
Cable for solids and roots, hydro jetting for grease, scale, and construction debris. The blockage decides the tool.
Newer PVC in Ankeny is usually in good shape, and the camera is how we prove that instead of implying you need more work.
Ankeny permits plumbing and building sewer work through Development Services, and the city requires a state licensed contractor to pull it. We handle that.
We push a full volume of water through the line, confirm it carries, and leave the space the way we found it.
FAQ

For work on the building sewer, yes. Ankeny lists building sewer and plumbing permits on its adopted fee schedule and requires the contractor to hold a State of Iowa license before the city will issue one. Routine drain cleaning does not need a permit.
Newer pipe does not stop grease, wipes, or hair from going down it. In Ankeny we also pull a fair amount of construction debris out of lines in homes under twenty years old.
Yes. They pass the toilet and then stop at the first fitting or grade change. They are the most common main line blockage we remove from newer Ankeny homes.
For a household, only when it slows. For a restaurant or a commercial kitchen, a scheduled interval is far cheaper than an emergency call during service.
No. Jetting is safe in sound PVC, which is what most Ankeny homes have. We camera the line first, and if we find a pipe that is already compromised we say so before jetting it.
Every main line, yes. A single bathroom sink usually does not warrant it, and we will tell you when it does not.
The private lateral from your home to the city main is the property owner responsibility. The city maintains the mains and the lift stations through its wastewater utility.
Usually. Ankeny is about a ten-mile run for us and we operate 24 hours, so same-day is the norm and active backups get priority.
