GRANDVILLE, MICHIGAN
Clog Busters clears drains, inspects sewer laterals and repairs broken lines for homes and businesses in Grandville, the Kent County city on the south bank of the Grand River. Our crews come from the Grand Rapids branch at 584 44th Street SE and take calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Every sewer repair starts with a camera, so you see the pipe before you see a quote.

GRANDVILLE HOMES AND SEWERS
Grandville is a mostly built-out Kent County suburb where about 45 percent of homes were built between 1940 and 1979, according to Census Bureau American Community Survey data for 2020 to 2024. The Census Bureau estimates 17,018 residents as of July 1, 2025, and the city’s 2023 Master Plan calls Grandville largely built-out.
Across our Grand Rapids branch service area, many neighborhoods built from the 1940s through the early 1970s still drain through Orangeburg, a sewer pipe made of wood fiber and coal tar that softens and flattens with age. More of Grandville’s current homes date from the 1980s than from any other decade, about one in five. A camera inspection shows which kind of lateral you have before we suggest cleaning, repair or replacement, trenchless where the pipe allows.
Water defines the map here. The Master Plan puts the city on the south bank of the Grand River, with Buck Creek running north through the central residential neighborhoods and floodplains along the river, Buck Creek and Rush Creek. Near those corridors we watch for groundwater seeping into old joints.
Two rules in Grandville’s sewer use ordinance matter in a basement:
Every Grandville drain ends at the city’s Clean Water Plant in Jenison, which also takes wastewater from Georgetown Township, Hudsonville, Jamestown Township and part of Blendon Township through more than 300 miles of sanitary sewer. The plant history dates the first treatment plant to 1964, near the Grand River between Buck and Rush Creeks, and records a 2012 expansion to 10.0 million gallons per day. If the street main is backing up, call Grandville Public Works. For a blockage in your building sewer, call us.
Tap water comes from Lake Michigan, treated at the City of Wyoming plant. Grandville’s 2025 Water Quality Report lists hardness at 97 parts per million and counts 5,363 of 5,397 service connections as containing neither lead nor galvanized pipe.
Clog Busters was founded in 2020 by owner Jarod Smith. Grandville is served from our Grand Rapids branch, which also covers Wyoming, Walker, Kentwood, Byron Center and nearby towns. Schedule drain or sewer service in Grandville.
SERVICES IN GRANDVILLE
Kitchen lines in Grandville's postwar houses often run through cast iron or galvanized pipe narrowed by grease and scale. We clear the clog and check the pipe.
Learn moreCracked trap arms, rusted floor drain bodies and leaking stack joints are replaced section by section with code-approved pipe. Sound pipe stays where it is.
Learn moreA cable auger, often called a snake, cuts through hair, wipes and root tips. We use it on single-fixture clogs and to open a line far enough for the camera.
Learn moreA camera run from a cleanout shows roots, offset joints or a flattened Orangeburg lateral. You see the footage before any repair is priced.
Learn moreA transmitter in the camera head lets us mark a drain's path and depth from above, so a repair opens one spot in a finished basement floor.
Learn moreHigh-pressure water strips grease and root mass from sound cast iron, clay and PVC. We camera the line first, since softened fiber pipe can tear under a jet.
Learn moreRepair or replacement of a broken or collapsed building sewer, trenchless where the pipe allows. Our camera also catches downspout tie-ins the city prohibits.
Learn moreWe mark the lateral from the house toward the street main before anyone digs, which helps on lots near the wetlands and floodplain along Buck Creek.
Learn moreA walkthrough of supply lines, drains, the water heater and visible piping. Buying a pre-1980 Grandville house? Add a sewer camera inspection.
Learn moreLeaking supply lines, failing shutoffs, running toilets and worn faucets. We pinpoint the leak first, so any drywall we open is opened in the right place.
Learn moreA pipe split by a January cold snap or sewage rising at a floor drain cannot wait for Monday. Our branch picks up 24/7.
Learn moreModerately hard Lake Michigan water slowly leaves sediment in a tank. We repair gas and electric heaters and replace worn-out tanks.
